WAVE — niki

One of the first Vocaloid songs I ever listened to—nearly a decade later, I love it just as much as I did back then, if not more.

First of all, Lily is a horribly underrated voicebank, and I'm so glad that this song uses her. The tuning is fantastic, and the mixing makes her voice so satisfyingly clear. In terms of composition, Niki struck a great balance here: the song is catchy and memorable, but not annoying. I've never been annoyed to have this song stuck in my head, because it manages to be catchy without being too repetitive.

In terms of the instrumental, it is loud and energetic, but mixed so cleanly that it doesn't sound overwhelming or chaotic. The beginning of the verses are much quieter than the rest of the instrumental, and I love the drop in intensity as the vocals come in. The intensity slowly rebuilds as the verse progresses, creating a smooth and satisfying transition up to the energetic chorus.

I don't have much more to say, but this song is phenomenal, and one of the best usages of Lily that I have ever heard. I don't think I could ever stop liking this song!
